Saint John the Theologian feast celebrated in Aetolia and Acarnania

The feast of the Translation of Saint John the Theologian was celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania. On the evening of Friday, September 25, 2026, Metropolitan Damaskinos presided over the Hierarchical Vespers at the Holy Temple of Saint John the Theologian in Ano Myrtia, within the Municipality of Thermos.

During his sermon, the Metropolitan focused on three key aspects of the Apostle: disciple, witness, and writer. He described John as the ‘beloved disciple’ who demonstrated deep love for Christ, noting his presence at the Last Supper and at the foot of the Cross. He further characterized John as a witness who recorded the lived experience of Christ’s life rather than a mere personal ideology, emphasizing that the Gospel is a record of experiential truth.
