Saint-Laurent 400 sailing race launches from Tadoussac to Îles-de-la-Madeleine

The inaugural Saint-Laurent 400 sailing race began on 5 August, with 33 yachts and about 250 participants setting off from Tadoussac, Quebec. The 400‑nautical‑mile course heads to Havre‑Aubert in the Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine, with a first stop at Rivière‑au‑Renard in Gaspésie, and is expected to take roughly a week.

Organised by Pierre‑Olivier Hivon, the event offers three categories – excellence, performance and endurance – to attract a mix of seasoned adventurers and competitive sailors. Hivon noted strong enthusiasm, with many participants joining for the first time. He hinted at a possible second edition, contingent on funding and continued interest.
