Saint-Louis launches inaugural Coupe du Nord football tournament

The city of Saint-Louis has officially launched the inaugural edition of the Coupe du Nord, a pre-season football tournament designed to prepare clubs for the upcoming regular season. The opening ceremony took place at Baya Ndar square and featured six prominent clubs from the Senegalese Ligue 1, along with an expected participant from Mauritania.

Bamba Bâ, president of the Saint-Louis regional football league and president of Linguère de Saint-Louis, initiated the event. He emphasized that the tournament aims to be more than a sporting competition, serving as a platform for fraternity, sharing, and mutual development between different territories. Bâ highlighted the importance of passing down values of unity and shared ambition to the youth.

The launch was marked by a festive atmosphere, with supporters from clubs such as Allez Casa and 12e Gaïndé providing musical entertainment and dancing. The event received institutional support, including the presence of Saint-Louis Mayor Mansour Fay.
