Saint Lucia cricket community mourns former youth captain Sharm Pierre

Sharm Pierre, a 45‑year‑old former captain of both the Saint Lucia and Windward Islands Under‑15 cricket teams, died after a short illness. Pierre, a native of Piaye, was the first Saint Lucian to lead both squads and had captained future West Indies internationals such as Daren Sammy, Garey Mathurin and Devon Smith.

He attended Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School and worked at Jalousie. The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association released a statement expressing gratitude and respect for his service, leadership and contribution to the game, calling him an example for future generations. The local cricket fraternity has issued messages of sympathy and reflection, honoring his legacy in shaping a generation of Caribbean cricketers.
