Saint-Maur-des-Fossés: 7-year-old suspected of killing aunt

A 49-year-old woman was killed in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Val-de-Marne, following a family dispute in the early hours of Friday, September 18. The victim, identified in some reports as Nadia S., died from a deep wound to the throat after attempting to seek help in the street.

Investigators believe the incident began as a disagreement between two sisters over a minor matter, such as hair straightening, at the home of the victim's 34-year-old sister. During the escalation, the 7-year-old son of the sister reportedly took a knife from the bathroom and attacked his aunt. The child reportedly told authorities, “I was defending my mom. I don't want to go to prison.”

Under French law, the child is considered criminally irresponsible due to being under the age of 13. While no criminal prosecution can be brought against him, the case has been referred to child protection services and a juvenile judge to evaluate the family situation and determine necessary psychological or social support.
