Saint Michael Lent begins with massive prayer mobilization in Brazil

The Saint Michael Lent, a 40-day period of Catholic prayer, fasting, and penance, has commenced in Brazil, running from August 15 until the feast of the Archangels on September 29.

Digital platforms have seen massive engagement, with YouTube broadcasts led by Frei Gilson and Instituto Hesed accumulating over 4 million views. One live stream alone reached more than 1 million simultaneous viewers during the early morning hours. Instituto Hesed offers various formats, including the ‘Rosário da Madrugada’ at 4:00 AM and recorded versions produced in Monte Gargano, Italy.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Saint Michael the Archangel Archdiocesan Sanctuary in Magalhães Bastos has also begun its spiritual preparation. Led by Canon William Bernardo da Silva, the sanctuary holds services Monday through Friday at 7:30 PM and on Saturdays at 9:00 AM, focusing on themes of conversion and hope inspired by the Book of Daniel.
