Saint Nicholas of Tolentino commemorated on September 10

September 10 marks the liturgical feast of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino, an Augustinian priest born in 1245. Known for his ascetic lifestyle, he practiced rigorous fasting and lived a life of intense prayer and contemplation.

As a preacher and mystic, he was noted for his work with the poor and his devotion to souls in Purgatory. He served in various locations including Fermo, Macerata, San Ginesio, and Recanati, before settling in Tolentino.

Tradition attributes numerous miracles to him, including reports of his incorrupt body and specific relics, such as his arms, which are preserved in silver cases at the Basilica of Tolentino.
