Saint Pacifico da San Severino Marche biography

Pacifico da San Severino Marche, born Carlo Antonio Divini in 1653, was an Italian Observant Minorite friar. Beatified by Pius V in 1786, he was officially proclaimed a saint by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839.

After being orphaned at age four, Divini was raised by his maternal uncle. He entered the Franciscan order in 1670 and was ordained a priest in 1678. He became a well-known preacher and confessor in the Marche region, noted for his virtues of obedience, zeal, and prayer. His life was also characterized by reported prophetic abilities and miracles, including the prediction of the 1703 earthquake.
