Saint Pierre and Miquelon amateur football team qualifies for French Cup

The AS Miquelonnaise football club from the French overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, home to roughly 600 residents, earned a place in the 2026 Coupe de France after winning its pre‑qualifying round. The side is composed of amateur players who work in tourism, fishing and other local businesses, and the achievement has been described by French and European media as an extraordinary and unique result.

The team will travel about 4,000 km to mainland France to compete, highlighting the passion for football on the tiny 240 km² archipelago. In 2019, French Football Federation president Noël Le Grae welcomed the club in Paris and gave them the opportunity to watch a national team match, underscoring the historic nature of their participation.
