Saint Stanislaus Kostka: 300 years since canonization

December 31, 2026, will mark the 300th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Stanislaus Kostka, the Jesuit patron of Polish youth. Often depicted in art as a gentle figure, historical accounts describe the 18th-century Jesuit as a disciplined, multilingual, and determined individual who faced significant opposition from family and friends when pursuing his religious vocation.

In Siedlce, the Catholic Youth Association (KSM) recently held a mass to commemorate the saint. Local clergy and youth members highlighted Kostka as a model of perseverance, noting that his life demonstrates that sanctity is not reserved for the elderly and that one can remain faithful to their calling despite social or familial pressure.
