Saint Susanna commemorated on August 11 name day

August 11 marks the name day for Susanna and commemorates the Christian martyr Saint Susanna.

According to historical and religious accounts, Susanna was the daughter of the presbyter Gavinnius, who was related to the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Despite her noble lineage, her family practiced Christianity, which led to tension with the Emperor. Diocletian sought to marry Susanna to his co-emperor Maximian, but she refused to renounce her faith. As a result, she was executed by sword during the reign of Diocletian and Maximian.
