Saint Thomas the Apostle feast marks Architects and Builders Day

On October 6, the Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Thomas the Apostle. Because the Apostle was a builder by profession, the day is also celebrated in Bulgaria as the professional holiday for architects, builders, and masons.

Saint Thomas, often referred to as ‘the Twin’, is recognized in Gospel accounts for his initial doubt regarding the resurrection of Christ until he personally witnessed the wounds. The day serves as a patron feast for those bearing the name Thomas and its derivatives.
