Saint Tryphyllios of Ledra honored on June 13

June 13 is observed as the feast day of Saint Tryphyllios, the first known bishop of Ledra (modern‑day Nicosia) in Cyprus. According to tradition, he was born in Cyprus in the late 3rd century, studied law and rhetoric in Beirut, and later returned to his homeland where he founded a women’s monastery and the cathedral that housed his relics. He was a disciple of Saint Spyridon and is noted for his eloquence and literary activity, although none of his writings have survived. The commemorations note his role in early Christian leadership on the island and his connection to other saints of the period.
