Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to launch nationwide labour demand survey

The Department of Labour in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is launching the 2026 Job Openings and Labour Turnover Survey (JOLTS), also referred to as the Labour Demand Survey. Scheduled to run from October 1 to November 30, 2026, the nationwide initiative aims to map employment needs, job vacancies, and workforce challenges.

Unlike standard labour-force surveys that track workers, this survey focuses on employers to collect data regarding vacancies, hiring activity, staff departures, and recruitment difficulties. The project is part of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Data for Decision Making Project and is funded by the World Bank Group.

Officials intend to use the findings to identify specific areas where businesses face staffing struggles, allowing policymakers to better align training programmes with actual labour-market demand. The Department of Labour is requesting full cooperation from selected enterprises to ensure an accurate evidence base for future economic development and employment decisions.
