Saint Xenia Petrograd Icon Installed in Inđija Church, Serbia

A newly transferred icon of Saint Xenia of Petersburg was formally placed in the Church of Saint George in Inđija, drawing a large gathering of Orthodox believers from the town and surrounding areas. Worshippers waited for hours to venerate the icon, offer prayers and seek its blessing, which they associate with comfort, spiritual strength and aid in difficult times.

The icon is slated to remain permanently at the church, providing a lasting place of devotion for the local Serbian Orthodox community and pilgrims. Saint Xenia, canonized in 1988, is revered as a patron of families, the sick, the poor and those facing hardship, and her life story—marked by widowhood, self‑sacrifice and extreme asceticism in 18th‑century Russia—is highlighted as an inspiration to the faithful.
