Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines prison security breach via drone delivery
A security breach occurred at the Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines regional receiving center in Quebec, an institution considered one of Canada's most secure facilities. During the early hours of October 15, 2026, a drone successfully delivered a McDonald's meal and alcohol directly to the window of a cell within a special detention unit.
The unit, which houses some of the country's most dangerous criminals, failed to detect the drone through its surveillance cameras or anti-drone technology. Correctional officers discovered the inmate intoxicated and in possession of food items including chicken nuggets, fries, and sauces.
Union representatives expressed concern over the incident, noting that while this delivery contained food, the same method could be used to smuggle weapons into the facility. The breach highlights potential vulnerabilities in the prison's high-security infrastructure.
