Saint‑Martin Collectivity Supports Baby'Dou Micro‑Crèche Amid Closure Threat

The Collectivité de Saint‑Martin announced it will maintain financial support for the Baby'Dou micro‑crèche despite rumors of a possible September closure. The authority plans a subsidy of €183,000 for 2026, representing 38 % of the centre’s projected operating budget, and is negotiating a multi‑year agreement to secure funding for the next three years. An additional €222,740 is expected from the Caisse d’allocations familiales (CAF), covering 46 % of operating costs, with family contributions making up the remainder.

Vice‑president for Solidarity Michel Petit called for greater transparency on the centre’s economic situation and the use of already‑disbursed public funds. A technical meeting with the Collectivité, CAF and other partners is scheduled to diagnose the issue and explore solutions to keep the crèche open and preserve childcare places for local families.
