Saitama Sakae High School accident: Parents sue for 136 million yen

The parents of a student killed in a vehicle rollover accident at Saitama Sakae High School have filed a lawsuit seeking approximately 136.63 million yen in damages.

The incident occurred in November 2024 on the school grounds in Saitama City's Nishi Ward. A vehicle used for maintaining the soccer club's grounds overturned while four male students living in the school dormitory were inside. A 17-year-old student in the passenger seat died as a result of the accident.

The lawsuit names several defendants, including the school corporation Satoei Gakuen and its chairperson, the principal and vice-principal of Saitama Sakae High School, teachers associated with the boys' soccer club, and the student who was driving along with his parents.
