Sajad Lone questions Rahul Gandhi over pellet victim concern
Peoples Conference president Sajad Lone has issued an open letter to Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, questioning why Gandhi has shown concern for pellet gun injury victims in Delhi but remained silent regarding victims in Kashmir.
Lone noted that while Gandhi recently pressed for an FIR following a pellet injury in the national capital, similar urgency has not been applied to the Valley. He cited government records from 2016 to 2017 showing 6,221 people were injured by pellet firing in Jammu and Kashmir, including 782 with eye injuries that resulted in permanent blindness or disability.
Lone also referenced the initial use of pellets during the 2010 unrest, which caused numerous blindings. He urged Gandhi to visit Kashmir and attempt to register FIRs for local victims to ensure the law is applied equally and that Kashmiri victims are not treated as less human than those in other parts of the country.
