Sakarya Applied Sciences University develops durable perovskite solar cells
Researchers at Sakarya Applied Sciences University (SUBÜ) have launched a project aimed at overcoming technical barriers to the commercialization of next-generation perovskite solar cells. Led by Professor Emre Güzel, the study has been awarded support through the Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
Perovskite solar cells offer higher efficiency and easier production compared to traditional silicon panels, but they currently suffer from instability when exposed to moisture, heat, and light. The project seeks to replace current additives, such as Li-TFSI, which accelerate water absorption and cell degradation, with alternative phthalocyanine derivatives. These new materials are designed to be more stable and water-repellent to extend the lifespan of the cells.
The multidisciplinary research team includes international and national experts, such as Professor Daniel Prochowicz from the Polish Academy of Sciences, alongside professors from Karadeniz Technical University, Necmettin Erbakan University, and Gebze Technical University acting as a consultant.
