Sakarya chemical leak leaves two injured as Aksaray reports traffic incidents
In Sakarya’s Hendek district, a chemical leak occurred from a truck transporting hydrochloric acid from Kocaeli to Zonguldak. The driver, alerted by bystanders, moved the vehicle to a side road near the Hendek Küçük Sanayi Sitesi to prevent further exposure to the public. Two individuals, Serkan Akdeniz and Bedirhan G., were treated at the hospital after being affected by the toxic gas and odor.
Emergency teams including AFAD, fire departments, and police responded to the scene. Authorities temporarily closed the side road of the D-100 highway for cleaning and safety measures.
In a separate incident in Aksaray, police dealt with a hit-and-run involving a vehicle that struck a parked car. Following a dispute with the vehicle owner's relatives and a search for the driver, the vehicle was recovered and the owner was fined 46,000 lira. Additionally, another driver in Aksaray was fined 5,000 lira for illegal vehicle modifications after being stopped for dangerous driving.
