Sakarya floods strand family and model Elif Ece Uzun

Heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in the Sapanca district of Sakarya, Turkey, have left several residents stranded. AFAD rescue teams successfully evacuated an eight-person family, including an eight-month-old baby, using a high-line system across a stream.

Model Elif Ece Uzun and her six-year-old twin daughters were also rescued by AFAD teams after being trapped by rising waters. Although the family was evacuated, they remain unable to return to their home because the access road is blocked and the local bridge has been destroyed. Uzun has appealed to authorities for the construction of a temporary bridge to allow her children to return to school, noting that repairs may take up to two months.
