Sakarya fugitive stabbed to death by relative

Rüştü Dağcı, an escaped prisoner, has died following a stabbing incident in the Geyve district of Sakarya. Dağcı had been released from the Sakarya No. 1 L-Type Closed Prison on leave approximately 20 days ago but failed to return, resulting in his status as a fugitive.

According to reports, a dispute broke out between Rüştü Dağcı and his relative, Şahin Dağcı. During the altercation, Şahin Dağcı allegedly stabbed Rüştü Dağcı. Despite medical intervention at Geyve State Hospital, Rüştü Dağcı succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Şahin Dağcı, who fled the scene after the attack, is currently being sought by gendarmerie and police forces. Records indicate that Şahin Dağcı had previously been on trial for a 2020 case involving a double death, though he was acquitted in that specific matter.
