Sakarya Gas Field reserves reach 785 billion cubic meters

Total natural gas reserves in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea have reached 785 billion cubic meters. This increase follows a series of discoveries starting with the Tuna-1 well in August 2020, which initially reported 320 billion cubic meters. Subsequent discoveries at the Amasra-1, Çaycuma-1, and Göktepe-3 wells have contributed to the updated total.

Since 2023, production has expanded to 12 wells, with a cumulative production of 6.7 billion cubic meters to date. The Sakarya Gas Field currently accounts for approximately 92% of Turkey's domestic natural gas production. Current daily production is reported at 9.5 million cubic meters, meeting the needs of roughly 4 million households.

Future development plans include Phase 2 of the Sakarya Gas Field Development Project, which aims to bring the Osman Gazi Floating Production Unit online in the last quarter of 2026 to increase daily capacity to 20 million cubic meters. A second floating production facility is planned for Phase 3, intended to reach a daily production capacity of 45 million cubic meters by 2028.
