Sakarya launches 1 billion Lira infrastructure project in Hendek
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and SASKI have launched a new infrastructure project in Hendek valued at approximately 1 billion Turkish Liras. The initiative aims to strengthen the district's water and sewage systems by replacing aging asbestos pipes, improving rainwater drainage, and completing missing sewage lines.
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar noted that the project is a critical step in addressing water loss and leakage issues. He reported that currently, only 45 liters of every 100 liters of pumped water reach citizens. Following the initial phase, a separate 2 billion Lira investment for a new treatment plant is planned for the Hendek district.
SASKI General Manager Seyit Sakallıoğlu stated that 77 kilometers of drinking water, rainwater, and wastewater lines have been completed in Hendek over the last 2.5 years. The new investment is intended to create a sustainable system capable of meeting the district's future water demands.
