Sakarya Municipality Launches Citywide Mapping Project
The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has started a comprehensive mapping initiative to produce an up‑to‑date, high‑resolution map of the city. About 650 ground control points will be established across Sakarya, and after the measurements are completed, aerial photographs will be taken with aircraft under a protocol with the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre. The resulting geospatial data will be used for urban planning, zoning, disaster risk management, transportation, infrastructure projects and to monitor illegal construction.
The new map aims to streamline land‑parcel tracking, reduce redundant field surveys, improve the efficiency of public services and help municipal authorities make more informed decisions about city development.
