SAKIGAKE JAPAN and Panasonic EW launch next-generation shelter project

SAKIGAKE JAPAN and Panasonic Electric Works have officially decided to continue their joint project to design “world-standard next-generation evacuation shelters.” This initiative aims to transform shelters from temporary emergency facilities into well-being spaces that function effectively during both normal times and disasters.

The project aligns with the upcoming establishment of Japan’s Disaster Management Agency in November 2026. It focuses on two primary pillars: implementing DX/AX (Digital Transformation/Architecture Transformation) infrastructure to centralize management processes like supplies and information sharing, and utilizing advanced spatial design—including lighting, climate control, and acoustics—to protect the dignity of evacuees.

SAKIGAKE JAPAN is currently seeking municipalities and facilities to participate in demonstration experiments to establish a standard model for these next-generation shelters.
