SAKIGAKE JAPAN proposes decarbonized cold chain for Indonesia
SAKIGAKE JAPAN has announced a plan to implement an off-grid cold chain system to support fishery logistics in the remote islands and coastal areas of Indonesia. The initiative was presented at a Tokyo Metropolitan Government exchange event for the ‘Global South GX Promotion Project’.
The proposed system aims to reduce food loss and carbon emissions by combining solar power with advanced cooling technologies. To overcome the limitations of unelectrified regions that currently rely on diesel generators and ice, the company plans to use solar power, storage batteries, Phase Change Materials (PCM), and high-insulation cooling boxes. This setup allows for temperature management from the point of catch to the market, reducing dependence on commercial power and refrigerated trucks.
SAKIGAKE JAPAN is currently seeking collaboration partners, including companies specializing in renewable energy and cooling technology, as well as fishery and logistics operators, to support technical verification and local implementation.
