Sakina Ittoo launches Cambridge Phonics programme in Jammu and Kashmir
Minister for Health, Medical Education, School Education and Social Welfare, Sakina Ittoo, inaugurated the Cambridge Phonics & Handwriting Programme in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. She highlighted the importance of public‑private partnerships, noting that private schools such as Foundation World School are complementing government efforts to raise learning outcomes. The launch emphasized strengthening foundational literacy and early childhood education, urging teachers to adopt learner‑centred methods that foster curiosity, critical thinking and creativity. Ittoo also warned that schools must help combat rising drug addiction among youth by providing awareness and counselling. The event was attended by MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar and a range of educators, parents and community leaders.
