Sakoltee Pattiyakul criticizes slow government flood relief in Bangkok

Sakoltee Pattiyakul, a Democrat Party deputy leader and Chairman of the Public Health Committee, has criticized the Thai government for its slow response to flooding in Bangkok. Following a field visit to flood-affected areas, Sakoltee noted a lack of public health officials to address waterborne diseases such as leptospirosis, athlete's foot, and dengue fever.

He highlighted that while major roads have been addressed, many residents in smaller alleys and communities, specifically in the Kheha Rom Klao and Kheha Khlong Chan areas, remain stranded with stagnant water. He estimated that nearly 100,000 people are still unable to live normally.

Sakoltee also urged the Prime Minister to focus on broad, systemic relief rather than localized cash handouts. He argued that while distributing 1,000 baht per person in specific visited areas is helpful, the government must prioritize comprehensive surveys of all affected communities and streamline the process for long-term property and mental health compensation.
