Saktouria receives €153,000 for water infrastructure

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy has approved €153,000 in funding for water supply infrastructure projects in Saktouria, located within the Municipality of Agios Vasileios, Rethymno. The initiative aims to support residents in an area that was severely impacted by devastating wildfires last July.

The project includes the construction of a new 150-cubic-meter water reservoir, the development of a 1,000-meter water supply network, and the building of a pumping station facility at the ‘Kamara’ location. Additionally, the funding covers the procurement and installation of electromechanical equipment, including a pumping unit and electrical panel, as well as necessary electrical grid expansions to ensure the station's operation.

Agios Vasileios Mayor Giannis Tatarakis stated that the project is essential for addressing current needs and improving long-term living conditions, enhancing the reliability and security of the region's water supply.
