Ghana Police arrest suspects in separate robbery and murder cases

The Ghana Police Service has arrested multiple suspects in two distinct criminal investigations in the Ashanti and Greater Accra regions.

In Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested three Nigerian nationals, Aboy Promise, Favour Uwalaka, and Kingsley, for their alleged involvement in a syndicate targeting bank customers. The group reportedly monitored banking premises to identify individuals withdrawing large sums of money before trailing and robbing them. They are also accused of using a master key to break into unattended vehicles. One suspect, Chinedu, remains at large. Police recovered cash, mobile phones, a motorbike, and a master key during the operations.

In a separate case, 72-year-old Samuel Christopher Osei Anto was arrested in Tikrom for the alleged murder of George Atubiga and Irene Atubiga at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono. Preliminary investigations suggest the killings stemmed from a financial dispute involving a GH¢500,000 debt. Police recovered a Smith & Wesson pistol and ammunition during the arrest. A woman, Beatrice Mumuni, was also detained for allegedly directing the suspect to the victims' residence.
