Canelo Alvarez to face Christian Mbilli for WBC title in Riyadh
Mexican boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is set to return to the ring this Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He will face the undefeated French-Cameroonian challenger Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title.
Reports regarding Alvarez’s compensation vary, with some sources citing a guaranteed base fee of approximately $47 million, while others, including reports from ESPN, suggest his total earnings could reach $100 million including bonuses and sponsorships. Mbilli is expected to earn roughly $8 million to $9 million for the bout.
The fight marks Alvarez’s first appearance since his September 2025 loss to Terence Crawford, a defeat that cost him his undisputed status in the division. The event, titled ‘Mexico vs. The World,’ is scheduled to begin between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Central Mexico time to accommodate viewers in Latin America.
Despite regional security concerns in the Middle East, both fighters have arrived in Riyadh. The match will be broadcast globally via DAZN pay-per-view and will be available on free-to-air television via TV Azteca in Mexico.
