Italy exceeds PNRR targets for school and university infrastructure

Italy has met and exceeded several key targets related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) regarding educational infrastructure. Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara announced that targets for school buildings, including seismic upgrades, energy efficiency, and new facilities, have been achieved. Notably, the plan has surpassed targets for nursery school places for children aged 0-6, with over 55% of resources allocated to Southern Italy to support working families.

In the university sector, the Ministry reported the successful achievement of PNRR targets for student housing, with over 63,200 new beds being provided across various regions, including Molise, Basilicata, and Campania.

Local municipalities are also reporting the completion of specific projects. In Trento, a new energy-efficient nursery has opened, while in Reggello and Piacenza, PNRR funds have facilitated the inauguration of renovated childcare facilities. Additionally, the Piedmont region is investing in expanding nursery school hours and supporting mountain communities and agricultural biodiversity.
