Salaberry-de-Valleyfield issues measles exposure alert

Public health officials in Montérégie have issued an urgent advisory following a measles exposure in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. An infected individual visited several public locations between September 17 and September 20, 2026.

Specific locations identified include a public event at Hôtel MOCO and Dooly’s bar, where the individual was present between 6:00 p.m. on September 18 and 1:00 a.m. on September 19. The Direction de santé publique de la Montérégie is currently conducting a contact-tracing investigation to identify those potentially exposed.

Because measles is a highly contagious airborne virus, residents who frequented these venues during the specified dates are advised to monitor for symptoms—such as high fever, cough, nasal congestion, red eyes, and a skin rash—through October 11. Health officials noted that infants, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals face a higher risk of severe complications.
