Saladillo Civil Defense acquires new rescue boat
The Saladillo Municipal Civil Defense has acquired a new 430 semi-rigid boat, a Suzuki 40 motor, and a trailer to enhance emergency response capabilities. The equipment was purchased through community fundraising efforts, including the sale of approximately 475 dozen empanadas and various raffles organized by volunteers.
Director Marcos Derman stated that the semi-rigid design was chosen for its maneuverability and safety, noting that the three-pontoon structure provides high buoyancy even if one pontoon is punctured. While the unit was originally intended for recreational use, Civil Defense will modify it for rescue and emergency operations in rivers, lagoons, and streams. The new vessel joins existing kayaks and canoes to assist in search and rescue tasks and the transport of supplies to isolated areas during emergencies.
