Salado River Basin Committee coordinates water risk management

Officials from the Salado River Basin Committee held regional meetings to coordinate water management and climate change mitigation strategies across various subregions in Argentina. The meetings focused on preparing for extreme weather phenomena, specifically the El Niño effect, which increases the risk of water accumulation and flooding.

In Subregion C, Infrastructure Minister Gabriel Katopodis presented strategic hydraulic works, storm drainage plans, and watercourse cleaning tasks. Specific projects include the maintenance of the Guaminí pumping station and defense embankments, as well as the installation of 11 automatic monitoring stations.

In Subregion A4, held in Rivadavia, local mayors and representatives from the Water Authority (ADA) coordinated prevention and monitoring actions. The discussions aimed to improve regional response capacities to potential water excesses through inter-municipal cooperation and technical planning.
