Salaj County Fire Service Logs 3,300+ Rescues in First Half of 2026

The Salaj County Emergency Situations Inspectorate "Porolissum" recorded 3,351 operational interventions during the first six months of 2026. Of these, 2,512 were medical emergencies handled by SMURD crews, averaging 14 interventions per day, while 235 fire incidents represented a 12% drop compared with the previous year.

No fatalities were reported. Sixteen people were extracted directly from flames, 35 were evacuated in time, and 12 individuals in cardiac arrest were successfully resuscitated. SMURD provided first aid to 2,301 adults and 198 children, responding to diverse medical conditions, trauma cases, and 103 road accidents. Property damage was limited, with assets worth over 35 million lei saved and losses reduced to 13 million lei.

Colonel Vasile‑Adrian Dobocan highlighted the continued decline in fire occurrences and emphasized public education on fire safety, noting that open flames, sparks and electrical short‑circuits remain the main causes of incidents.
