Urban and environmental projects advance in Spain and Colombia

Various urban and environmental initiatives are underway across Spain and Colombia. In Madrid, the city is remodeling the Jacinto Benavente plaza with a 9.5 million euro investment to expand pedestrian spaces and greenery, expected to finish in 2027. Additionally, EMT buses and Bicimad bike services will be free on September 7 and 8 to support the return to school.

In Salamanca, several projects are active: the construction of 128 urban gardens near the railway station, the setup of the Feria de Día gastronomic event, and the Salamaq agricultural fair. To support Salamaq, the city is providing free shuttle buses from September 3 to 7. Unicaja will also be present at the fair to provide specialized financial advice to farmers and livestock producers.

In Colombia, the Ministry of Environment has added 270 hectares to the Vía Parque Isla de Salamanca to strengthen the conservation of the Caribbean ecosystem. In Huelva, Spain, over one million euros will be invested in five green spaces near the former prison to improve climate comfort and urban vegetation.
