Salamanca begins construction of community center
Construction has officially begun on a new community center in the El Olimpo neighborhood of Salamanca, Guanajuato. The project is a collaborative effort between the municipal government, led by Mayor César Prieto, and the federal government under President Claudia Sheinbaum through the ‘México Imparable’ program.
The facility is designed to serve approximately one thousand residents by providing free spaces for sports, including basketball, athletics, and boxing. Additionally, the center will host workshops for reading, music, and dance, alongside literacy classes and mental health and psychological services.
This initiative is part of a broader federal strategy involving the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation. The goal is to address the root causes of violence and strengthen the social fabric in high-need areas through community engagement and prevention.
