Salamanca Boosts Historic Bridges and Botanic Archaeological Park

The city of Salamanca, Spain, has highlighted its six main bridges that span the River Tormes, ranging from the Roman‑era stone viaduct with 26 arches to modern steel‑glass structures such as the Sánchez Fabrés Bridge opened in 2003. These crossings link the historic centre with surrounding neighbourhoods and form a key part of the city’s cultural identity.

Separately, the municipal council has allocated €200,000 to refurbish the Parque Arqueológico del Botánico. Improvements include new night‑time illumination, repaired walkways, upgraded electrical and carpentry work, and the introduction of 3D glasses that recreate Roman, Iron Age and medieval layers of the site. Mayor Carlos García Carbayo said the upgrades make the park more accessible and create a new cultural‑tourist experience.

Both projects aim to preserve and promote Salamanca’s historic fabric while enhancing visitor safety and enjoyment.
