Salamanca expands cycling network to over 126 kilometers

The Salamanca City Council is expanding its cycling network, which is set to exceed 126 kilometers in total. This expansion aims to connect the capital with surrounding municipalities, including Aldeatejada, Cabrerizos, Carbajosa de la Sagrada, Santa Marta de Tormes, Villamayor de Armuña, and Villares de la Reina.

Local police data indicates a significant rise in bicycle usage, with a 161% increase in trips toward the hospital over three years and a 424% increase toward the Los Villares industrial estate. Upcoming works in La Aldehuela and near the railway station will further interconnect neighborhoods and improve intermodality by linking bike paths with bus stops and parking areas.
