Security incidents reported across Mexico and Honduras

Various security incidents have been reported across Central America and Mexico. In San Francisco, Atlántida, Honduras, authorities seized a 9mm Girsan pistol from an intoxicated man during a police saturation operation.

In Mexico, several law enforcement actions took place. In San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, four individuals were detained following two separate interventions, resulting in the seizure of two 9mm firearms, ammunition, and approximately 59 grams of a substance suspected to be crystal meth.

In Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, three people were linked to a process after being caught with two rifles, 737 cartridges, and nearly 14 kilograms of marijuana. Additionally, authorities seized 100 ‘ponchallantas’ devices.

In Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mayor César Prieto Gallardo addressed the killing of nine police officers since 2022. While acknowledging slow progress in investigations by the State Attorney General's Office, he denied that these killings have caused mass resignations within the force.

In Chiapas, the State Human Rights Commission opened an investigation into a lynching in the Las Tacitas community of Ocosingo. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of a man and a pregnant woman, reportedly stemmed from local suspicions of witchcraft following a medical procedure.
