Salamanca health centers face criticism over delays and mismanagement
Political leaders and community associations in Salamanca are criticizing the management of public health services in the region. The PSOE has denounced the opening of the Prosperidad health center, describing it as a result of “absolute improvisation, abandonment, and a lack of clear guidelines.” Reported issues include patients receiving conflicting notifications, appointments not appearing in computer systems, and insufficient nursing and pediatric staffing.
Simultaneously, the Teso-Zurguén neighborhood association has expressed concern regarding delays in the construction of a new multi-neighborhood health center intended to serve San José, El Zurguén, La Vega, and El Tormes. While regional President Alfonso Fernández Mañueco stated that the bidding and drafting of the project would be completed “as soon as possible,” residents note that the project has faced delays for over fifteen years. The association is demanding clear information, meetings with health management, and adequate budget allocations to ensure the infrastructure is operational before 2028.
