Salamanca hosts XXXVII National Meeting of Brotherhoods

The city of Salamanca is hosting the XXXVII Encuentro Nacional de Cofradías from September 24 to 27. The event features various religious exhibitions, including ‘Octo Dies’ and ‘Sacra Identitas Helmanticae’.

A central part of the celebration involves the solemn transfer of religious images to the Catedral Nueva for the ‘Vía Aurea’ exhibition and a subsequent extraordinary procession scheduled for September 26. One of the first major transfers included the image of ‘Nuestro Padre Jesús Despojado de sus Vestiduras’, which moved through the historic district to the cathedral amidst large crowds.

Other scheduled transfers include ‘Jesús Nazareno’, ‘Jesús Rescatado’, and ‘María Santísima del Dulce Nombre’, followed by the transfer of ‘Jesús Flagelado’ on Sunday morning. These images will join eleven others displayed at the cathedral.
