Salamanca proposes new regulations for outdoor terraces
Salamanca has begun the process of unifying and updating its terrace regulations through a new municipal ordinance. The proposed rules aim to standardize requirements across the city center, the Plaza Mayor, and various neighborhoods, including specific gastronomic zones like Van Dyck.
Key changes include the establishment of mandatory emergency evacuation corridors and limits on public space occupation. In pedestrian streets, terraces will generally be restricted to a single line of tables and chairs, and occupation of public squares or spaces cannot exceed 50%.
The ordinance also addresses accessibility and the use of structures such as awnings and umbrellas. While larger awnings of up to 4 square meters may be permitted in certain areas, they will not be authorized in the city center. All structures must remain within the authorized exploitation space.
