Salamanca public transport faces route reductions and user decline

Public transportation in Salamanca, Spain, is facing a significant crisis characterized by a reduction in routes and users. Roberto Calvillo Ramiro, a representative for the service, reported that the system has lost approximately 40% of its passengers and eight routes have ceased operations over the last seven years.

Users have reported frequent issues including long wait times, particularly after 7:00 PM, deteriorated vehicle conditions, and overcrowded units that fail to stop for passengers. The municipal government is currently holding meetings with concessionaires, but a definitive restructuring of the routes is pending the results of a technical mobility study.
