Salamanca weather alerts issued following severe storms
A severe storm hit Salamanca in the early hours of Sunday, bringing lightning, thunder, and moderate rainfall. The weather event was followed by a sharp drop in temperatures.
Aemet has issued a yellow alert for rain, with potential accumulations of up to 40 liters per square meter in areas including the Cantabrian Mountains, León, Sanabria, southern Salamanca, and the Sistema Central. Other regions, such as Valladolid, are under alert for up to 15 liters per square meter.
Due to warnings for strong wind gusts, storms, and rain, the Salamanca City Council has closed several municipal spaces and parks, including La Alamedilla Park, Paseo de Carmelitas, and the La Aldehuela Sports City. These areas will remain closed until safety inspections are completed following the end of the alert.
