Salamis Shipyards delivers blocks for third French FDI frigate

Salamis Shipyards has completed and delivered four pre-equipped blocks for the third French FDI (FDI-FR) frigate, which is also the seventh vessel in the overall FDI program. These components were manufactured at the shipyard facilities in Greece and departed on August 28, 2026, bound for the Naval Group shipyard in Lorient, France, for integration into the vessel.

This delivery completes the total requirement of five blocks for this specific French frigate, following the initial shipment of the first block in May 2026. The project is part of a long-term strategic partnership between Salamis Shipyards and Naval Group established in 2022, involving the construction of FDI-type frigate components for both the French and Hellenic Navies.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Greek shipbuilding and defense industry, as it represents the first time a Greek shipyard has participated in the construction of high-technology warships for a foreign navy. Previous deliveries under this program include components for the Greek FDI frigates ‘Formion’ and ‘Themistoklis’.
