Salary transparency remains a taboo in Denmark

Discussions regarding salary transparency in Denmark highlight the ongoing taboo surrounding wage discussions. A business analyst working 20 hours a week as a student reported earning 135 DKK per hour, noting that many peers held unrealistic expectations of high earnings in large corporations.

An Epinion survey indicated that seven out of ten people rarely or never discuss their pay with colleagues. Salary negotiation expert Caroline Rønne, author of ‘Mere i løn’, suggests that while open discussion is beneficial, individuals should start by researching realistic pay scales within their personal networks to gain a better understanding of market rates.
